Tentative Club Racing Schedule Posted

General News

A tentative racing schedule for March-June, 2016, has been posted to the Calendar section of the website. Please have a look and let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I will post the July-August schedule when I have it in place. Most of the venues should be familiar; some good news is that Scotland Rd. appears to be usable again.

Volunteers are needed for many events; if you are willing to volunteer to officiate at a mass start event or a TT please email me and let me know which dates work for you. This year I will revert back to simply asking people to volunteer, with the proviso that if no volunteers step forward for a given race that race will be cancelled. That said, and in addition, however, to be eligible for club championships members (or a designate) must volunteer for at least one training event this year.

I'm looking forward to seeing everybody out on the roads again.

Computrainer Recall

General News

Bob Sica reports that there is a recall on flywheels (blue ones) on computrainers. If you have one go here: http://questionpro.co/t/ALEIEZTHdp and they will send a free replacement. Apparently there have been serious injuries and they want you to remove the blue one immediately (you can ride without it).

SWC raises Hope

General News

Another Southwest Challenge has come and gone and we're all the more tired because of it.  More importantly though, the SWC has once again, helped the sick and injured children of southwestern Ontario in need of care.  This year we raised an amazing $35,000 for the Children's Health Foundation.   It was an awesome effort by the participants, who not only put in the greuling miles but also raised so much money.  Kudos to all of you!  The weather was great and starting in Komoka was perfect.  Thanks to all our sponsors, including London Honda, for assisting us financially.  We also can't forget all our volunteers who did a tremendous job helping out.  Thanks again to everyone!

That Dam Cross Race

LCW members Mike Jaffray and Mike Aston are excited to announce they're organizing a cyclocross race in Woodstock on October 3rd, 2015. Come out and race, or drop by to watch the dirty excitement as racers navigate a course around the Pittock Dam at the Pittock Conservation Area. NOTE There is no charge for racers to access the park, but spectators will be charged the day use fee by Pittock Park ($12 per car).

More information and the tech guide is located at the CCN bikes registration page (https://ccnbikes.com/#!/events/dam-cross-race) or visit our facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/DamCross?ref=hl)

Early bird registration ends at Midnight on Friday, so take advantage of a $5 savings and register early. Also, this is a Citizen Event, so a racing licence is not required, although you will have to purchase a "race day permit" for $12. Anyone can race! As a recommendation, I would suggest new racers entering into the Elite 4 field or the Masters 3 field.

Look forward to seeing you there and having a dirty good time!

Michael Jaffray & Mike Aston
