Seven Members of L.C.W. are Cyclists in an International Television Commercial to be televised at the 2012 Olympics

After news time on Monday, June 4th the citizens of London knew all about the production company from Los Angeles, California who had come to London to do an international television commercial of a faux running marathon, at the corner of Wellington St. and Dufferin Ave. It was all over the news and in the newspaper, but not many people knew about the other international television commercial that had already taken place that day at the corner of Wonderland Rd. and Nine Mile Rd. north of London. There were no camera men and cameras and no big crowds, just the curious motorists on their way to work who sometimes stopped to take a look and who were quickly told to move on by the police officer hired to control traffic and a couple of cyclists who stopped to ask if we were doing a time trial? I replied no, we’re doing a TV commercial! Why? because the production company had come to London to do the faux marathon and decided once they were here to do a cycling commercial. This resulted in an urgent request for cyclists going out both in the London Free Press and emails being sent to some of the Executive members of the L.C.W.

Pan Am Track Championships

LCW member Eric MacDonald will represent Canada at the 2012 Junior Pan Am Track Championships in Guatamala from April 23rd to 29th. Good luck Eric!

UPDATE:

Eric competed in the men's sprint event on Tuesday, clocking an impressive 11.4s (63.2 km/hr) 200m in qualifying.  This was a new personal best for Eric but was, unfortunately, not quick enough to advance to the top-12 competition round.

On Thursday Eric raced the keirin.  He had a tough heat, matched up against two medalists from the sprint, and had to settle for fifth place.  Moving on the repechage Eric placed third and was, unfortunately, eliminated.

On Saturday Eric raced in the 20km road time trial, placing 29th.

Overall it was an excellent performance for his first international competition. Congratulations Eric!
