At the annual meeting, it was decided that new riders to LCW touring would have to be mentored for their first group ride by another experienced LCW member. This is an effort to prevent group riding catastrophes and a mechanism to help the new riders quickly assimilate into pack life. Traditionally, new riders were told of their errors by everyone who rode beside them. This was a haphazard approach and did not ensure the rider was given ample instruction to be competent. As a result, we've come up with a condensed version of the rules and etiquette of pack riding that will be handed out to all new riders. For the first half of this maiden ride, designated mentors will be assigned to observe and guide riders to quickly adopt these principles. Even if the new member has ridden in a group before they must still be observed for their first ride. Furthermore, at the discretion of the mentor, they will be directed to ride in either the slow or middle group only. So please be mindful of new riders and the mentors efforts. Thanks
